[ARCHIVED] Waste collection changes in 2025

Waste Collection Changes

We want to let you know about upcoming changes to trash, recycling, and yard waste collection in our community.

From January 1, 2025, our new contract will start with Whitetail Disposal, LLC. Under the new contract, there are some changes to how household waste will be collected.

Collection schedule changes

From January 1, 2025, all trash and recycling will be collected on the same day. The new collection day will be Tuesday. The first collection for 2025 will be Tuesday, January 7.

Yard waste will continue to be collected on specific weeks, on Thursdays throughout the year. The new collection calendar will be available soon. Additionally, yard waste must be placed in paper bags for collection. Bins will no longer be accepted.

Automated arm collection and bin delivery

Trash and recycling will be collected using trucks with an automated arm. This means trash and recycling will need to be placed in specific bins.

Each household will be issued two 96-gallon bins, one for trash (black lid) and one for recycling (blue lid). These will be delivered by Whitetail Disposal in early December. If you need a smaller bin, you’ll be able to request one from Whitetail Disposal from February 1, 2025. You can do this by either emailing uwchlan@whitetaildisposal.com or phoning (610) 936-9967.

Note: please do not use the new bins until the first pick up on January 7th, 2025.

Areas that can’t be serviced using an automated arm will continue to be collected manually. We’ll also have more details about this soon.

Excess trash stickers

If you have excess trash that won’t fit in your bin, you’ll be able to purchase additional trash stickers for extra trash bags. The cost per sticker is $5.00. This covers $4.50 for disposal of the extra bag and the cost of printing. Stickers will be available for purchase at the Township Administration Building from January 1, 2025.

Bulk items

Bulk items will be collected on the last Tuesday of the month. Each household can place out one bulk item per month and collection must be scheduled in advance with Whitetail Disposal. You’ll be able to schedule items by either emailing uwchlan@whitetaildisposal.com or phoning (610) 936-9967.

Reporting issues or have questions

From January 1, 2025, you’ll be able to find detailed information on Whitetail Disposal's website. You'll also be able to report collection issues directly to Whitetail Disposal by emailing uwchlan@whitetaildisposal.com or phoning (610) 936-9967.

In the meantime, you can continue to report issues to us through our online form.

Bill payments

Trash payments will continue to be $95.00 per quarter. See the Sewer & Trash Billing page for more details.

We’re working closely with Whitetail Disposal to ensure a smooth transition and we’ll have more information available in the coming weeks. If you have questions, you can contact us at uwchlan@uwchlan.com
