[ARCHIVED] Peck Road Culvert Installation Completed

Peck Road Culvert

We’re pleased to share that the new culvert on Peck Road has successfully been installed and the road is now open for public use. This important piece of infrastructure will increase our storm water system’s capacity to handle larger weather events, improving our resilience for future storms.

This project, which began in late-January, required significant construction work. Along with installing the culvert, it also involved realigning existing sewer infrastructure. Due to the scale and impact of these works, a road closure and detours were put in place.

Before breaking ground, we took steps to ensure utilities that may’ve been impacted were clearly marked to prevent disruptions. Unfortunately, there was an unexpected delay when information provided by Aqua about a water main proved to be inaccurate. As a result, work on the culvert was paused while Aqua relocated the affected water main.

By July, Aqua had obtained the necessary permits, and work on the water main relocation began in earnest. This phase was completed by the end of July, allowing our contractor to return to site. The remaining work included storm water piping, grading works, concrete pouring, and road reconstruction.

In late August, we moved into the final stages of the project. Crews focused on road grading and manhole installation, and preparing the base for paving. Once the road was properly graded and inspected, the base, binding, and top coat of paving were applied. The final steps included line painting, installing road signage, and placing a new guiderail for safety.

We reopened the road to the public on September 11 and are grateful for the patience and understanding of our residents throughout the project. We also want to extend our thanks to the Public Works, Road, Sewer Departments, contractors, and the Police Department for their dedication to completing this installation.

The new culvert is now ready to serve the community, enhancing storm water management and ensuring a safer, more reliable roadway.
