[ARCHIVED] Bobby Kagel welcomed as new Township Manager

NF Bobby Kagel

We’re excited to welcome Robert “Bobby” Kagel as our new Township Manager.

Originally born and raised in the Bronx, Bobby has been a township resident for more than three decades. His commitment to serving the community is demonstrated through his life memberships to both the Lionville Fire Company and the Uwchlan Ambulance Corps. He is also involved in Scouting with his youngest son.

Bobby believes his existing connections to the community and public service background will serve him well in this role.

“I’ve been a resident for more than 30 years and have always been driven towards service. I know a lot of the Township staff already, I know the community, and believe my skills could be useful in helping shape the future of the Township.”

Bobby brings a wealth of knowledge and experience with him. Before joining the Township, he worked for the County of Chester for 22 years. The majority of this was in the Department of Emergency Services, while his most recent role was as Chester County’s Chief Administrator; a position he’d held since 2018.

Bobby is looking forward to tackling difficult challenges facing our community with creative solutions.

“We have an amazing team in Township government and smart citizens. I can’t wait to put our collective heads together to solve the challenges ahead and make our community better and stronger through the process.”

After graduating from Downingtown High School, Bobby entered the workforce but was later drawn to further his education. He has earned an Associate Degree in Emergency Management & Planning from Delaware County Community College and a Bachelor Degree from California University of Pennsylvania in Legal Studies.

Bobby lives in Uwchlan with his wife, two small children, and their dog. They enjoy camping, fishing, making delicious meals, and generally enjoying the outdoors as a family.

Appointed at a Special Board of Supervisors meeting on August 5th, 2024, Bobby is grateful for this new opportunity.

“Thank you for the opportunity to serve. I look forward to meeting everyone; staff and residents alike. Don’t hesitate to say hi.”

We’d also like to thank Tara Giordano, who was Interim Township Manager while this hiring process was undertaken, as well as our Board of Supervisors for their commitment to a smooth transition.
