[ARCHIVED] Spring cleaning events help clean up community

The Uwchlan Township Environmental Advisory Council (EAC), supported by committed volunteers, has made a big environmental impact across two clean-up events this spring. These efforts not only beautify the area but also contribute to a healthier ecosystem for everyone to enjoy.

March 16th: Rt. 100 Clean-up

On Saturday, March 16th, a small yet passionate group of individuals from the EAC and other volunteers took to the task of cleaning up RT. 100.

Despite the busy traffic, they managed to collect an impressive 17 bags of trash along this stretch of roadway, enhancing its appeal and removing harmful litter from the environment. Such collaborative endeavors demonstrate the power of community action in fostering positive change.

A special acknowledgment goes to Sergeant Ryan Murphy from the Uwchlan Township Police Department, whose assistance ensured the safety of the volunteers throughout the clean-up operation.

April 14th: Baird Park Clean-up

Fast forward to Sunday, April 14th, where another group of enthusiastic participants joined forces for our second clean up event.

Over two hours, these dedicated volunteers scoured Baird Park and the Township Campus, diligently picking up litter that marred the natural beauty of these areas. Among the common items collected were single-use plastics, plastic water bottles, tissues, and cigarette butts - a stark reminder of the ongoing challenges posed by littering.

Despite the relatively short duration of the event, the collective effort yielded remarkable results, with approximately 18 bags of trash being gathered. This serves as compelling evidence that even a small amount of time dedicated to environmental stewardship can have a profound impact on our surroundings.

These efforts, combined with similar events from the past year, brought the total bags of trash collected to an astounding 82!
