Items that can be recycled

  1. Cans and foil
  2. Cardboard
  3. E-Waste
  4. Glass
  5. Paper
  6. Plastics
  7. Steel and other metallic cans

The following items can be recycled:

  • Aluminum cans for soda or alcohol
    You don’t need to remove labels. Please rinse well. 
  • Foils 
    Please remove any food or other waste from the foil.

Items that can't be recycled

These items may cause contamination. Please keep them out of your recycling. 

  1. Household items
  2. Latex Paint
  3. Oil-based Paint

The following items can't be recycled:

  • Batteries -  alkaline household batteries may be thrown in the trash.
  • Books
  • Ceramics, chinaware porcelain or Pyrex dishware
  • Computer and electronic equipment 
  • Disposable diapers 
  • Hazardous waste - see our guidance page
  • Light bulbs - Home Depot and Lowe's have a recycling drop off for Compact Fluorescent Light  Bulbs (CFLs). 
     All other light bulbs can be placed in the trash.
  • Liquids
  • Mirrors and window glass - please wrap in cardboard and tape securely before placing in trash. 
  • Paper towel or tissue paper
  • Plastics (low density #4) - such as bread bags, food wrapping and shopping bags.  
  • Scrap metal -  try taking it to your local scrap dealer. 
  • Smoke alarms
  • Styrofoam or any other form of foam packaging
  • Syringes or Needles - see our guidance on how to dispose of these safely
  • Textiles, fabric or clothing
  • Toys

Where to get a recycling bin

You can either buy a recycling container from:

  • a hardware store and label it for recyclables.
  • the Township building for $10.00.
