About the Zoning Hearing Board

The Zoning Hearing Board is a quasi-judicial body that renders decisions on land use appeals and applications. The Zoning Hearing Board is appointed by the Board of Supervisors and members serve a 3-year term.

The Zoning Hearing Board:

  • Assures fair and equitable application and administration of the Township zoning ordinance.
  • Hears appeals from the zoning officer’s determinations and grants relief from the enforcement of the zoning ordinance in certain hardship situations by means of a variance.
  • Hears applications for special use and challenges to the substantive validity of ordinances, as permitted by the Pennsylvania Municipal Planning Code (MPC).
